Paddy Pimblett forced to abandon Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua plan

Paddy Pimblett was due to make a shock appearance at Anthony Joshua's fight with Jake Paul, but has been forced to cancel his plans.

It has been well over a year since Joshua's last appearance in the ring, a knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in front of over 95,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. After undergoing surgery on his elbow earlier this year, the former two-time unified heavyweight world champion is back in training and is now gearing up for his comeback fight.

Despite the controversy surrounding Joshua's bout with Paul, many A-listers and big names from around the globe are expected to witness the action unfold ringside, with millions set to tune in from around the globe. One man who was set to travel to Miami was Pimblett.

The 'Baddy' recently teamed up with Joshua to shoot some promotional campaign videos with Under Armour. Pimblett admits he was planning on attending all the action through the popular sports brand.

However, he has since abandoned those plans after it was recently announced that he's set to take on Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title next month.

Pimblett was hoping to travel across the pond and get under Paul's skin - but that will have to wait a little longer. The Liverpool native has traded verbal jabs with the Paul brothers over the years. The 'Problem Child's' brother Logan even called for a fight with the 'Baddy,' but a showdown failed to materialise.

Discussing his original plans, Pimblett told Coin Poker: "I was going to be there. I'm sponsored by Under Armour so I see AJ quite a bit so I was going to actually go and be part of like the last week of the camp. But with me now fighting like five weeks later. I just don't think it's feasible to go and do it. I was literally going to go and walk out with AJ and do bits for him and try and wind Jake Paul up."

The British heavyweight boxer is expected to make easy work of Paul later this month. Their clash will be contested over eight three-minute rounds, with both men set to wear 10oz gloves. Regardless of the end result, the outcome will count on their respective professional records.

Pimblett was also eager to share his prediction. Much to the surprise of no one, the Scouse sensation is tipping his fellow countryman to get the job done against the 28-year-old.

"But yeah, AJ comes out there and knocks him out. There's no way Jake Paul can hang with AJ. He’s a former world champion. Unified world champion. Unless AJ takes it easy on him, Jake Paul is getting knocked out in the first three rounds," he said.
