Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and singer Palaash Muchhal’s much-awaited November 23 wedding was halted just hours before the ceremony, sending social media into a spiral of speculation. Both families attributed the sudden “indefinitely postponed" celebration to a medical emergency involving Smriti’s father. But even as they requested privacy, the internet went into overdrive.

Amid the frenzy, old photographs of Palaash with his former girlfriend resurfaced and spread widely online. One viral picture shows an elaborate proposal setup, with Palaash on one knee before his then-partner prompting users to question whether he had been engaged before dating Smriti. The woman has been identified by social media users as plastic surgeon Birva Shah, with claims the proposal dates back to 2017. None of these details or images have been verified, and News18 cannot confirm their authenticity.

Palaash reportedly began dating Smriti in 2019 after being introduced through mutual friends, but the couple kept their relationship low-key until they went public last year.

Now, users claim her teammates have also removed the video from their profiles. The move has intensified curiosity online. One user on X wrote, “This is not something you delete unless something big has happened." Another commented, “She deserves peace, not this heartbreak."

A Day of Crisis for Both Families

Reports state Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, experienced heart attack-like symptoms on the morning of the wedding and was rushed to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli. The emergency brought all celebrations to a standstill.

The emotional turmoil extended to Palaash as well. His mother told Hindustan Times that he shared a deep bond with Smriti’s father, and the situation left him shaken. “He cried so much that his health suddenly deteriorated. They kept him in the hospital for four hours. He was given an IV drip, an ECG was done, and other tests were carried out. Everything came back normal, but he is under a lot of stress," she said.

While rumours continue to swirl online, both families have chosen silence, focusing instead on recovery and privacy as they navigate an unexpectedly difficult moment.
