Princess Anne's comments to Winter Olympian after bronze medal speak volumes about her
A Winter Olympics competitor has shared her delight at meeting Princess Anne at the Winter Olympics. Canadian freestyle skier Meghan Oldham bagged a bronze medal in the Women's Slopestyle Final earlier in the Games and was presented with the honour by the Royal.
The 24-year-old had a brief chat with Princess Anne, a moment she enthusiastically recounted when speaking to CBC Olympics journalist Ariel Helwani. Revealing a moment that perfectly encapsulated the down-to-earth and humble nature of Anne, Oldham said: "She was so sweet.
"She was just saying congratulations, like, this is such a big accomplishment, and then she was also just asking me about some other events that I have coming up." She added: "She was like, 'Are you competing again?' I was like, 'Yeah, I'm competing in Big Air.'

"So she just wished luck, which was really nice" whilst Helwani responded: "A little chit chat with the Princess." Princess Anne's connection with Canada is long-standing, with the 75-year-old holding ceremonial roles with numerous regiments of the Canadian Armed Forces.
In addition to presenting Oldham with her medal, Anne - who is a member of the International Olympic Committee - handed out several more Olympic medals at Milano Cortina.
