Reigning ILT20 Champions Desert Vipers to Feature in Global Super League 2026 Edition

In the latest development, there is exciting news coming up for all the cricket fans as the upcoming third edition of the Global Super League (GSL) is set to feature the winners of the International League T20 (ILT20) 2025-26 Desert Vipers in this edition of the tournament. The tournament will feature 5 teams and is scheduled to be played from July 23 and August 1, with all 11 matches being held at the Guyana National Stadium in Guyana. 

 

The newer addition of Desert Vipers to the Guyana Global Super League (GSL) will enhance and strengthen the tournament accessibility, bringing a strong set of teams to the league for the fans across the globe. The 2026 edition is set to be bigger this time and is expected to feature some raw and high-class talents in the league.

 

As quoted by the Newsroom, GSL chairman Sir Clive Lloyd said: 

 

“We are delighted to welcome the Desert Vipers to the Guyana Global Super League. Their presence adds tremendous quality and international appeal to the tournament. This is exactly what the GSL is about - uniting top teams from across leagues and creating a global stage for the game’s best talent.”

Talking about the Vipers, they will be joining this league with a rich history and dominating the ILT20 tournament with their performance. They are the most successful team in the ILT20 tournament’s history, having clinched the tournament this season after ending their previous editions (2023 and 2025)  as runner-ups. 

 

There are 5 teams expected to feature in the 2026 edition of the GSL 2026 with three teams already finalised as Guyana Amazon Warriors, Perth Scorchers, and Desert Vipers. The remaining two teams are yet to be announced. Each team plays against each other in a round robin format for a total of 10 matches, and the top two teams will meet each other in the finals of the tournament.
