Tennis LIVE: Carlos Alcaraz's alarming exchange as Miami Open star blasts organisers
Carlos Alcaraz suffered a shock defeat to Sebastian Korda in his first match at the Miami Open. The World No. 1 was beaten 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 by the American, who played one of the best matches of his career.
Not long after the Spaniard's defeat, his former coach Juan Carlos Ferrero took to social media to address a shocking rumour which had emerged. Ferrero, who has repeatedly been in the headlines after his messy parting of the ways with the two-time Wimbledon winner, had to explain in a social media post that he was not suffering with cancer, after a rumour started going round.
Meanwhile, the Miami Open was still catching up after they were forced to cancel several matches on Friday. With Wednesday's action a washout, and the weather again being affected by the schedule, Saturday's action proved to be a bad one for the Brits.
Cam Norrie and Katie Boulter both exited the competition in the third round, ending hopes of Brits in the singles. It followed on from Fran Jones' exit from the competition after she was forced to retire in her second round match with Jessica Pegula through illness.
Saturday's action was eventful as Jannik Sinner's match was halted due to fan behaviour but the Italian was forced to respond to comments made by Joao Fonseca following his 'robot' comparison with Carlos Alcaraz.
Iga Swiatek bowed out of the competition in three sets and the Polish star gave an emotional interview after losing to fellow Pole Magda Linette. With Aryna Sabalenka's match dropped to the third-largest stage, the Belarusian hit back, expressing her shock at the scheduling of her Miami Open matches but overcame the adversity to beat American Ann Li in straight sets.
