Alexa 2025 Unwrapped: Podcasts ruled the scene in India
In 2025, Amazon's AI assistant Alexa saw a massive uptick in podcast streaming. The tech major’s latest data on Alexa interactions in India, released on Monday, reveals that podcasts were one of the biggest drivers of voice queries this year, reflecting a growing appetite for long-form audio across genres.
True crime and horror dominated podcast listening. Titles such as The Horror Show by Khooni Monday and The Desi Crime Podcast were among the most requested, showing India’s fascination with chilling narratives and investigative storytelling. Business and finance listeners turned to Finshots Daily for market explainers, while Figuring Out with Raj Shamani and The Ranveer Show, which are about personal growth and entrepreneurship, were also popular.

Spiritual and mythological storytelling also had a strong presence, with The Stories of Mahabharata and The Sadhguru Podcast – Of Mystics and Mistakes, ranking high among Alexa users.
Music followed closely as another major category of engagement. Listening habits in 2025 reflected both global exposure and deep-rooted nostalgia. Viral tracks like APT by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars featured among the most requested songs on Alexa and Amazon Music, alongside Indian hits such as Shaky, Aaj ki Raat from Stree 2, and Saiyaara. The most played artistes ranged from modern day favourites Arijit Singh, Pritam, and Shreya Ghoshal, to international stars like Bruno Mars and ROSÉ, as well as evergreen legends Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.
Global pop culture, particularly Korean music, continued its rise in India. K-pop artists BTS, Jennie, and Blackpink were among the most searched musicians, sharing space with Indian icons and international superstars.
Celebrity curiosity was another strong trend. Alexa fielded countless questions about net worth, spouses, and physical details of public figures. Virat Kohli, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi topped celebrity queries, while business leaders such as Mukesh Ambani, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Jeff Bezos drew frequent net worth-related questions, the data revealed.
The insights are based on customer requests from January to November 2025, spanning English, Hindi, and Hinglish.
