With the festive season approaching, plenty of shoppers will be looking for the ideal gift for their music-loving loved ones. Earphones are soaring in the current sales, and we found an offer for Google fans worth looking at.

The Google Pixel Buds 2a are currently priced at £99 at Amazon, down from £129. At first this looks like an eye-catching deal but we found one even cheaper, thanks to the latest Black Friday deal from EE.

At EE, the Google Pixel Buds 2a are now £79, saving buyers £50 on their purchase. These Google Pixel Buds offer a lightweight and comfortable design, modelled after the Pro model, offering an "impeccable fit perfect for long hours of listening".

They also feature an adjustable fit thanks to the twistable stabiliser, so users can choose between a secure or relaxed mode.

With active noise cancelling via their 'Silent Seal 1.5' feature, and offering a huge improvement over the original Pixel Buds A with both a transparent and noise blocking mode, the buds are also able to deliver crispy audio with their 11mm drivers.

Featuring up to seven hours of listening time in noise-cancelling mode, or 20 hours with the included charging case, the brand advertises one hour of listening time per 5-minute charge for a battery that's as convenient as it is long-lasting.

With Google's Tensor A1 chip and Google AI, these buds also offer 'Clear Calling', helping to block external noise to ensure a great-sounding voice call. They also feature Google's Gemini voice assistant, which gives directions, information, or adds to notes and calendars with convenient voice controls.

For buyers looking for a high-quality alternative featuring a signature, slick design, they could check out Argos' Apple AirPods with USB-C Charging Case, currently priced at £119. Alternatively, shoppers could look at Currys' SOUNDCORE R50i NC, currently priced at £39.99. Available in black or white, these feature IP54 water and sweat resistance, 10 hours of battery life and active noise-cancelling.

Buyers of the Google Buds at Amazon have been impressed with their industry-leading quality. One shopper said: "I think these are really good, I had the old AirPods, so compared to those, these are amazing, although I wish it had better bass.

For the price, they are loud and have great noise cancellation and fit in the ears really well. I usually hate ones that go in your ear like that, but they feel fine and don't fall out."

Another added: "Best cordless budget headphones on the market." A third said: "Excellent sound, better than earpods." Not all shoppers felt the same, however, as one shopper found the app worked better on Google phones: "I have read that it might be better if used on a Google Pixel phone, but I can't confirm this.

"It gives basic information such as charge levels, which includes the case initially, but then disappears." Another added that the noise cancellation was slightly weaker than expected. They said: "They are standard and have good sound. I have not felt the full strength of the noise cancellation, other than that they store battery for longer periods."
