Control Resonant shifts focus to Dylan Faden in open-world Manhattan for 2026 release
Remedy Entertainment unveiled Control Resonant at The Game Awards, revealing a sequel that dramatically expands the supernatural franchise beyond the claustrophobic halls of the Oldest House. The action-RPG launches in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Windows PC, and Mac, featuring Dylan Faden as the new protagonist navigating a reality-warped Manhattan.

Set seven years after the original Control, Dylan—Jesse Faden's younger brother—emerges from Federal Bureau of Control confinement to combat cosmic forces consuming New York City. The supernatural threat has transformed Manhattan into what Remedy describes as a "geophysical nightmare," creating an open-ended world vastly different from the first game's interior setting. New combat system centers on shape-shifting melee weaponDylan wields the Aberrant, a crude shapeshifting melee weapon that transforms between forms like dual blades and heavy hammers. This marks a significant departure from Jesse's ranged Service Weapon, emphasizing close-quarters combat combined with supernatural abilities. Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen described the weapon as "a paranatural weapon for a desperate street fight" designed for superhuman feats.
The combat system features three core elements: fast-paced traversal through warped environments, unpredictable enemies with matching player capabilities, and mind-bending powers. Enemies can traverse platforms, fly, and deploy devastating paranatural attacks, with sizes ranging from massive to nimble opponents. Standalone story allows players to start fresh or continue journeyKasurinen emphasized both games function as independent experiences, allowing players to experience them in any order. "Each game represents one of the siblings and their respective journeys through this world," he explained during a press briefing.
Control Resonant represents Remedy's self-published effort, with Annapurna Pictures co-financing and co-producing. The companies are also developing film and television adaptations of Remedy's Control and Alan Wake franchises, expanding the supernatural universe across multiple media platforms.
