Countdown to Battlefield 6 release, exact time it happens in your region and all PC requirements
After a four-year break, the Battlefield series is back and ready to go head-to-head with Call of Duty – but will the month's head start aid or hinder EA's revival of the franchise?
Battlefield 6 marks a much-anticipated return to form that fans have been clamouring for, with destruction taking centre stage. For those who've drifted away from the series, this is one of the game's major attractions and a unique feature that distinguishes it from Call of Duty.
However, it's not all about harking back to the past; while Battlefield 6 does mark a return to the series' roots, Battlefield Studios has introduced some changes that might split opinion amongst long-time fans. For instance, EA has confirmed that following the Battlefield 6 beta weekends, it found that Open Weapons was the preferred choice for players, meaning any class can use any weapon.
This announcement, made in a blog post, hasn't been entirely well-received, particularly given that the Closed Weapon experience has been a staple of the series – at least until 2021's Battlefield 2042. The way this mode was presented during the Battlefield 6 beta is a bone of contention; not all modes in the beta supported Closed Weapons, for example, and it was blatantly clear that Open Weapons were being promoted (as this Reddit post explores).
Despite some minor hiccups, Battlefield 6 is still on track to be a smash hit, if the beta numbers are anything to go by. The game saw a peak of over 521k players on Steam alone (via SteamDB), dwarfing the peak of over 99k Call of Duty players during the Black Ops 7 beta weekend (which was extended to a new Thursday, October 9 end date).
It's worth noting that this figure also includes Warzone and Black Ops 6, making it look even more disappointing in comparison.
It seems like Activision is pulling out all the stops to throw a spanner in the works for the Battlefield 6 release, announcing a Black Ops 6 free trial that conveniently begins the day before Battlefield 6 launches. Lasting just over a week, players will have the chance to dive into the start of Black Ops 6/ Warzone Season 6 as well as The Haunting Halloween event which both coincide with the free trial.
But for those of you who are gearing up to jump into Battlefield 6, here's exactly when the Battlefield 6 release is scheduled for in your region.

Remember, the Battlefield 6 preload is already up and running – except for the Epic Games Store, which isn't providing preloads. The file size will likely tip the scales somewhere between 55-80GB so no matter what platform you'll be gaming on when Battlefield 6 launches, you'd better ensure you've freed up enough room!
