Nintendois on a roll this week, delivering a boatload of new content and improvements for a number of its flagship games — and now you can add Donkey Kong Bananza to the list.

Alongside an update for Mario Kart World, the first major 2026 patch for the iconic 3D platformer on Nintendo Switch 2 is available now.

It adds Polish language support, and according to the official patch notes, fixes for several issues to improve the overall experience.

This comes hot on the heels of a free Switch 2 update for Donkey Kong Country Returns HD which delivers a host of upgrades, including sharper graphics, smoother resolution, and lightning-fast load times, plus GameShare support.

Players can step into the shoes of Dixie Kong in both single-player and local co-op, while a brand-new Turbo Attack mode has also been added.

Follow this step-by-step guide to update Donkey Kong Bonanza to the latest version today:

  • Power on your Switch 2 and make sure it’s connected to the internet
  • From the HOME Menu, highlight Donkey Kong Bananza (don’t start the game)
  • Press the '+' or '–' button on your Joy‑Con to open the Options menu.
  • Scroll down and select 'Software Update'
  • Choose 'Via the Internet'
  • The system will check for the latest patch. If the update is available, it will start downloading automatically
  • Once the download finishes, launch the game, and the update will install before you play
