Elon Musk is making his debut at the World Economic Forum (WEF). According to a report by Bloomberg, the tech billionaire is confirmed as a last minute addition for an afternoon session on January 22, 2026, speaking to BlackRock Chief Executive Officer Larry Fink. Notably, this will be the first time Musk is going to WEF after years of criticism and counter-remarks directed at the organisers of the annual event for wealthy elites.

A Business Insider report quotes a WEF spokesperson who confirmed that Musk is attending the event, adding that the forum has "an outstanding tech delegation attending this year's meeting — companies and individuals who are shaping the future of their industries."

Further, the report cites flight data from ADS-B Exchange which showed that Musk's private jet, a Gulfstream G650, took off from San Jose International Airport on January 21 night local time and is traveling east.

Musk has not commented yet.

Elon Musk added to WEF schedule ‘last minute’As per reports, Elon Musk was not initially expected to attend the global economic event in Davos this year. However, a day after US President Donald Trump addressed the gathering, the Tesla and SpaceX chief has now been added to the official WEF schedule. The updated programme shows Musk listed as a participant, marking a late change to the event’s lineup.

When Elon Musk questioned how WEF is even a thingIn an X (formerly Twitter) post in 2023, the Tesla CEO wrote “How is WEF/Davos even a thing?". He was then responding to a video of Schwab's opening speech at the 2023 event. “Are they trying to be the boss of Earth!?,” he said.

Musk has previously declined an invitation to Davos. Declining the invitation in 2022, he called the event "boring AF".

"My reason for declining the Davos invitation was not because I thought they were engaged in diabolical scheming, but because it sounded boring af lol," Musk wrote.
