A major rejig in the top deck of technology company Eternal saw founder Deepinder Goyal exiting, propelling Albinder Dhindsa, the CEO of quick commerce vertical Blinkit, to the top position.

In a letter to shareholders, Goyal threw his weight behind Dhindsa, saying that he was more than capable of leading Eternal as Group CEO. "Blinkit's journey from acquisition to breakeven happened under his leadership. He built the team, the culture, the supply chain, the operating rhythm. He has the DNA of a battle-hardened founder and his ability to execute far exceeds mine," he wrote.

Here's some background on the new Eternal Group CEO.

Dhindsa received his Bachelor’s degree in Technology (B.Tech) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)–Delhi and later moved to the United States for higher studies, earning an MBA from Columbia Business School.

He began his professional career in the US as a transportation consultant at Cambridge Systematics. He also had a stint at investment bank UBS before returning to India to join the startup world.

Dhindsa’s history with Zomato goes way back. In 2011, he joined the startup as head of international operations, working closely with Goyal to expand the platform into international markets such as the UK, the UAE, and New Zealand.

In about two years, Dhindsa left Zomato to launch his own venture, Grofers, along with cofounder Saurabh Kumar. Based in Gurugram, Grofers was a hyper-local delivery service for groceries and pharmacy items, an early shadow of what would become a burgeoning industry. Over the next seven years, the company scaled up but due to stiff competition and high operational costs, it struggled.

In 2021, Dhindsa decided to pivot and, banking on speed as the next frontier, shut down Grofers’ standard delivery model and overhauled the company. He renamed it Blinkit, and focused exclusively on 10-minute "quick commerce".

In 2022, Zomato acquired Blinkit for roughly $568 million (Rs 4,447 crore). Despite the acquisition, Dhindsa remained at the helm as CEO.

Blinkit is now the market leader in the cut-throat quick commerce market. In the December 2026 quarter, it reported an adjusted Ebitda of Rs 4 crore, against a loss of Rs 103 crore in Q3FY25.
