Fortnite developer Epic Games is about to add lots of new content to the game, although the good news ends there. According to Epic Games, Fortnite update 40.10 is coming to PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and Android on April 1. It adds new content such as crossover skins, not to mention a new season of OG.

Unfortunately, however, the new content won't be available until server maintenance comes to an end.

Fortnite will be taken offline at 9am BST UK time, while matchmaking is disabled shortly beforehand.

The news was announced by Epic Games on X (formerly Twitter), alongside a confirmation of the server downtime.

"Fingers go pew pew," reads an Epic Games tweet. "Downtime for v40.10 begins at 4 AM ET (8 AM UTC) with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand."

For UK fans, this means that Fortnite will be taken offline in full at 9am BST, while matchmaking will be disabled at 8.30am UK time.

The Fortnite server status page confirms that downtime will last for 90 minutes, which means the game will be back online at 10.30am BST in the UK.

Daily Express will update this article with all the latest developments, so keep checking back for confirmation about the Fortnite server maintenance.

In terms of what fans can expect from the update, the big news is the launch of OG Season 8.

Season 8 adds a new Battle Pass, while bringing back locations such as Lazy Lagoon, The Volcano and Sunny Steps.

That's on top of the Pirate Cannon and Treasure Maps, not to mention the Flint-Knock Pistol and Poison Dart Trap.

Perhaps most exciting of all, however, is the imminent return of the Marvel Endgame LTM on April 3.
