Archiving Facebook messages is a great way to keep your Messenger inbox clean without permanently deleting important conversations. If you're using an Android device, the process is quick and simple. Here's how to do it step-by-step:

Step 1: Open the Messenger App


Launch the Facebook Messenger app on your Android phone or tablet. Ensure you're logged into your account. Once opened, you'll see your entire chat list on the home screen.


Step 2: Select the Conversation



Scroll through your chat list to find the conversation you want to archive. Once found, press and hold the chat for a second until a pop-up menu appears.

Step 3: Archive the Chat



In the options that appear, tap on “Archive.” This will instantly move the conversation out of your main inbox and into the archived section—without deleting it.

Step 4: View Archived Messages



To access archived messages later, go back to the Messenger home screen. Tap on your profile icon in the top-left corner. From the menu, select “Archived Chats.” Here, you’ll find all previously archived conversations.


Step 5: Unarchive a Chat



Want to restore a conversation to the main chat list? Go to Archived Chats, locate the chat, press and hold it again, and then select “Unarchive.” The chat will instantly reappear in your active conversation list.
