Huge game getting remastered for PS5 and it's not Bloodborne
A remaster of a beloved RPG is reportedly coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S - just eight years after its initial release. Kingdom Come Deliverance first launched on the PS4, Xbox One and PC back in February 2018, where it instantly became a commercial and critical success.
Players step into the muddy boots of Henry, a commoner whose village is destroyed by mercenaries. He joins a growing resistance effort, and finds himself embroiled in political conflict, with a tight focus on realism and period-accurate weapons, combat and society. It would go on to sell one million units in its first two weeks alone, rising to well over 10 million over the following years.
While Warhorse Studios was able to deliver an historically grounded open-world story set in 15th-century Bohemia, there was always a feeling that things could have been a little better with some added technological oomph behind it.
If the latest leaks on Reddit are anything to go by, it looks like Deep Silver and Warhorse Studios may get a second chance to help Kingdom Come Deliverance reach its full potential.
The report suggests the studio is working on a next-generation version version for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The remaster is reportedly targeting a February 2026 release, although the exact date is yet to be finalised, and is subject to change.
Some also express surprise that the project is yet to be announced given the reported release window. Warhorse Studio, meanwhile, is yet to respond to the rumours, so take the speculation with a pinch of salt.
Players should also temper their expectations, with rumours suggesting the remaster will be more of a straightforward update than a complete overhaul.
Improvements are likely to consist of higher resolution textures, including a 4K texture pack, as well as improved audio, and performance enhancements more suited to current-gen hardware.
No gameplay changes or new story content is expected to be added, so gamers hoping for a new take on 15th century Bohemia might be disappointed.
Meanwhile, Bloodborne - a game that would benefit from even the most rudimentary of updates - is still stuck at 30 frames-per-second on last-gen hardware.
Here's hoping Sony has something big planned for the beloved FromSoftware release in 2026.
