Instagram has unveiled a new feature that allows creators to link multiple Reels into a connected series, making it easier for audiences to follow ongoing content. The feature, now rolling out globally, is designed to enhance storytelling and boost engagement across the platform.

According to Meta, creators can now organise their Reels around a specific theme or storyline by linking them either while uploading or later via the overflow menu. Once linked, viewers will see a “Next Reel” button at the bottom left corner, enabling smooth navigation through the series.

Why the Feature Matters for Creators

This update is especially valuable for creators producing multi-part tutorials, recipe collections, travel diaries, or episodic vlogs. Instead of reminding followers to return for “part two,” creators can seamlessly guide them to the next instalment, ensuring higher retention and better engagement.

How Instagram Reels Linking Works

  • New Reels: Creators can tap “Link a Reel” under the caption field, choose an existing Reel, and assign a title of up to 15 characters.
  • Existing Reels: Users can open a Reel, tap the menu icon, and add or edit linked content.
  • Editing Options: Linked Reels can be updated, unlinked, or retitled at any time.
  • Limitations: The feature does not apply to subscriber-only or close friends Reels.

Designed for Storytelling and Engagement

Instagram confirmed that the Reels linking feature was among the most requested updates. It aims to support richer storytelling, increase watch time, and help creators convert casual viewers into loyal followers. By making content easier to follow, the platform is encouraging structured and engaging episodic content creation.
