Marathon release time in all regions on PlayStation, Xbox and PC
Bungie’s latest shooter Marathon is almost upon us, and it looks as though thousands of gamers are ready to take the plunge following a very successful server slam weekend. Set on the planet of Tau Ceti IV, the newest extraction shooter on the block looks to scratch more of the PvP itch that ARC Raiders fans are looking for.
Despite being published by Sony, Marathon is set to launch across both Xbox and PC platforms, too. This should help to encourage as many players to jump into the game as possible, especially as live service titles appear to be sink or swim these days.
Marathon launches on Thursday, March 5 - here’s exactly when you can jump into the action depending on your region and platform:

Marathon release time in all regionsBungie is planning a global launch time with Marathon, which means that it will go live simultaneously no matter which region you’re in. There’s no way to access the game early like setting your console’s time zone to New Zealand.
In the UK, that means players will need to wait until 5pm GMT on Thursday, March 5 until the Marathon servers go live. Here’s what that translates to in other time zones across the world:
PST - 10am, March 5
EST - 1pm, Match 5
CET - 7pm, March 5
JST - 3am, March 6
AEDT - 5am, March 6
NZDT - 7am, March 6
For us UK folks, this sadly means we’ll need to wait until the evening before we’re able to hop onto Marathon. If recent online game launches are anything to go by, I’d recommend allowing a couple of hours extra for the servers to stabilise with the influx of players - there’s likely to be some server queueing going on.
The recent server slam saw a peak Steam player count of 143,621. That doesn’t quite top what ARC Raiders managed to pull in on the daily, but it’s also not accounting for the thousands of additional players on console.
With Bungie having the backing of Sony and a hefty roadmap already planned ahead of it, this live service shooter doesn’t seem to bear the same hallmarks of failures that came before it. Still, I said that about Highguard earlier this year - and look how that turned out.
