Netflix launches Playground app for kids, bundles games with existing subscriptions
Netflix has launched Playground , a dedicated games app for kids aged 8 and under, available today in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand. It's free with any Netflix subscription — no ads, no in-app purchases, no extra fees.
The app runs on smartphones and tablets and works offline, which makes it genuinely useful on flights or road trips. Games are built around Netflix's existing kids library — think Peppa Pig, Sesame Street, Storybots, and Bad Dinosaurs. Activities range from memory card matching and connect-the-dots to making smoothies with Peppa or, in true kid fashion, building "fart-filled songs" using a turntable in the Bad Dinosaurs game. Playground will roll out globally on April 28.

Netflix is also expanding its kids show lineupThe Playground launch comes alongside a broader push into preschool content. Netflix has ordered a new animated series called Young MacDonald — created by Ada Twist, Scientist's Gabrielle Meyer — about Old MacDonald's grandson running a farm with a pig named Dumpling. It has also renewed Trash Truck (no new episodes since 2021) and The Creature Cases for additional seasons.
Coming up over the next few months: My Sesame Street Friends: My Elmo (April 13), CoComelon Lane Season 7 (April 20), Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie (May 23), and Ms. Rachel Season 3 this summer. Netflix acquired Sesame Street in May 2025 and has been building out its early-childhood content slate aggressively since.
