What is Hiro
Hiro, founded in 2023, launched its AI-powered financial planning tool approximately five months ago, and it allows users to enter personal financial data like salary, debts, monthly expenses and then model a range of “what-if” scenarios to help them think through major financial decisions.

One of its distinguishing features is a focus on accuracy in financial mathematics, including an option that allowed users to verify the calculations the AI produced, a meaningful feature in a space where trust and precision are non-negotiable.

Hiro will shut down its operations on April 20 and delete all user data from its servers by May 13. Bloch confirmed in his LinkedIn post that Hiro's employees would be joining him at OpenAI. LinkedIn lists approximately ten people associated with the company.

What Hiro founder Ethan Bloch said
Hiro is joining OpenAI!

We started Hiro with the vision of building an AI personal CFO, and we worked relentlessly to make it real. Since then, we’ve helped clients plan for and manage more than $1 billion in assets, and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built and learned along the way.

As Rushabh Doshi and I got to know the team at OpenAI, it became clear that joining forces would give us the opportunity to pursue that vision at a much larger scale.

For decades, personalized financial guidance has been too expensive, too generic, or too hard to access. ChatGPT is finally changing that.

The mission that brought us to Hiro, and to Digit before that, has not changed: improving people’s financial well-being. If anything, it feels even more important now.

Starting today, Hiro is no longer accepting new signups. The Hiro product will stop functioning on April 20, 2026 and all data will be deleted from our servers on May 13, 2026. Existing users can export all of their data from settings until May 13, 2026: https://lnkd.in/eSpywqZJ

To everyone who used Hiro: thank you. Thank you for believing in us early. Thank you for trusting us with your time, your feedback, and your finances. Building for you was a privilege. I’m sorry that the Hiro journey ends here, but I hope we earn the chance to serve you again through what we build next at OpenAI.

To our team: I'm incredibly grateful for this team. You pursued our mission with passion and urgency and just kept shipping, learning, shipping. You built things I’ll always be proud of. I’m excited to continue our mission together at an even greater scale at OpenAI.

To our investors: Ribbit, General Catalyst, Restive and many friends, you are the best partners a founder could ask for. I know the Hiro journey is ending sooner than any of us expected and I'm grateful for your unwavering support. Thank you.

And to everyone else who supported Hiro along the way: thank you.
