Not to forget the addition of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5processor that promises to deliver a smooth and powerful performance – all this at a starting price of Rs 1,39,999 . We used the most-powerful smartphone from Samsung for sometime and here’s our review in which we will break down all of the aspects of this device, from its stunning display, to its raw performance, to see if the S26 Ultra lives up to the Ultra name.

Design
Samsung has developed a look and feel for Galaxy phones over the past few years, and the S26 Ultra is about as "Samsung-y" as it gets — rounded corners, flat metal side rails, a raised triple camera along the back, and an overall understated aesthetic. Against last year's S25 Ultra, you can see wider, curvier corners that bring it even closer to the general look and feel of the base models. Samsung has also shaved a few grams off this year's flagship, weighing in at 214g compared to last year's 218g — though that comes at the cost of the premium titanium frame that Samsung has coveted for its Ultra model for the past few years. Instead, it's back to sporting the same Armour Aluminium as the rest of the flagship range, available in shades like White, Black, Cobalt Violet, and Sky Blue. The phone is also thinner measuring 7.9mm and lighter than the S25 Ultra. Samsung was able to achieve this weight loss partially by ditching the titanium frame for aluminum. The rear panel of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra feature smooth matte finish which keeps fingerprints ay bay and also enhances the grip. The build quality is quite solid and the polished aluminium frame reinforces durability. The power button and volume rockers are placed on the right side, whereas the SIM card tray and USB Type C charging port sits at the bottom. The front is dominated by a 6.9-inch display which also houses a 12MP selfie camera. The slim and sleek design of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra also seamlessly integrates the S Pen, which docks neatly into the body without disrupting the phone’s symmetry. One only divisive element remains the large camera bump, which protrudes noticeably and can make the phone feel top‑heavy when laid flat. Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra also comes with IP68 rating which makes the smartphone resistant to dust and water.

Display
Display is definitely one of the strong points of Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The smartphone sports a 6.9-inch Quad HD+ display which comes with 1440x3120 pixel resolution. The AMOLED display offers variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz and is coated with a layer of Corning Gorilla Armor 2 protection. The immersive screen of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra delivers crisp detail and vibrant colours which make everything look engaging. Also, the 120Hz adaptive refresh rate makes the scrolling smooth and the animations also appear built. The support for HDR10+ improves the contrast and dynamic range making visuals pop with realism. Samsung has also improved the brightness on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra as compared to its predecessor. The high brightness levels ensure excellent outdoor visibility. Whether you’re reading emails on a busy street or watching videos in daylight, the screen remains clear and easy to view. Along with this, Samsung has also fine-tuned the colour calibration which ensures that the whites look natural and the blacks are deep, maintaining accuracy across different lighting conditions.

Another important addition to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is its new Privacy Display feature. Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces privacy at the pixel level with the mobile industry’s first built-in Privacy Display. Designed for everyday situations like transit, cafés and shared environments, Privacy Display goes beyond anything previously available on mobile devices — hardware and software working as one to protect privacy without compromising the viewing experience. Unlike traditional stick-on privacy films, Galaxy’s integrated Privacy Display preserves full viewing quality from all directions when off, and limits visibility for others from side viewing angles when activated, even when switching between portrait and landscape orientation. Users can customise when it turns on — such as when entering PINs, patterns and passwords or opening selected apps — and adjust privacy levels depending on the situation. Partial Screen Privacy intelligently limits visibility for notification pop-ups, while Maximum Privacy Protection further obscures side views for added discretion, all with minimal impact on power or usability.

During our testing, the Privacy Display feature worked really well. During testing in crowded environments, the feature consistently blocked side glances without noticeably affecting the clarity for the primary user. Text remained sharp, colours stayed accurate, and brightness levels were sufficient even when the privacy mode was active. Unlike traditional privacy screen protectors, which can sometimes dull the display permanently, Samsung’s implementation is dynamic—you can switch it on or off instantly depending on your needs. Apart from this, the screen also includes an eye comfort shield which keeps your eyes comfortable by limiting blue light and using warmer colours. You can also customise the eye comfort mode as per your needs. Additionally, you have the flexibility to adjust the colour tone, customise the font size and style, and select the screen resolution according to your preference. The display is surely one of the high-points of Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Performance
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is built to deliver uncompromising performance, and it shows in every aspect of daily use. Being the most-expensive smartphone of Samsung and it packs the best hardware available right now for any Android smartphone. S Pen still emerges as the defining feature of Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. With the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, the company has refined the S Pen further and now it feels more natural and responsive. During our testing we felt that the latency has been reduced to near imperceptible levels and writing and sketching on the display now feels more identical to pen on paper. Whether you are taking some important notes or drawing ideas, the S Pen manages to deliver a precise and fluid experience. Along with this, Samsung has also expanded the Air Command Suite by adding AI-powered tools which make the S Pen more than just a regular stylus. For instance, now the handwritten notes can be summarised automatically into concise text and you can also convert your diagrams into finished charts. Apart from this, the S Pen on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra also comes with improved pressure sensitivity and the tilt recognition allow for detailed shading and brushwork in art apps. Navigating the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra with the S Pen also feels intuitive and the features like smart select, screen write, and live messages remain handy. The integration of the S Pen in the smartphone is also smooth. You can neatly dock the S Pen in the body of the smartphone which it gets charged automatically.
Software

Coming to the software, Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra runs Android 16 operating system topped with the company's own layer of One UI 8.1. The company has also promised that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will receive 7 years of OS update and security patches. Along with the hardware, Samsung has also refined the software experience of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The user interface is quite clean and the transition and animations also appear fluid. One of the high points of the OneUI 8.1 on Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is its multitasking capabilities. The UI offers features like split‑screen, pop‑up view, and app continuity across Galaxy devices which transforms the Galaxy S26 Ultra into a great productivity tool. Also, the presence of various AI tools further enhances the user experience. For instance, we really liked the AI‑powered note summarisation feature which works with the S Pen and can generate a summary of any handwritten note. Similarly, AI transcription tools can convert voice recordings into editable documents with impressive accuracy.

Along with this, Samsung has also introduced proactive AI suggestions. This means that the smartphone learns usage patterns and offers contextual nudges—like suggesting apps you often use together, reminding you of tasks based on location, or even recommending battery‑saving measures when it anticipates heavy use. These subtle touches make the phone feel more adaptive and personal.

The portrait photography on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra also refined with the help of AI algorithms. Now the smartphone offers cleaner edge detection and more realistic background blur. Whereas, the telephoto zoom offers crisp results even at higher magnifications.

Video recording is equally impressive. The phone supports 8K video capture, and the improved Super Steady stabilization ensures smooth footage even when shooting handheld or on the move. AI‑driven enhancements automatically adjust exposure and focus, making video recording more seamless and professional‑looking. In real‑world use, the camera consistently delivered reliable results across scenarios.

Another interesting feature of the camera on Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the AI photo editing feature. With the upgraded Photo Assist feature suite, users can simply describe what they want to change in their own

words. Changing the scene from day to night is just a matter of asking. It can also add to images and restore missing parts of objects like a bite taken out of a cake. Personal details, such as a spill on clothing, can also be cleaned up with Galaxy AI’s new ability to change outfits in photos. Edits can now be made continuously, reviewed step by step, and easily adjusted or undone along the way, making the process feel fluid rather than final.

Battery
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra houses a 5,000 mAh battery which comes with 60W fast charging support and 25W Qi2 wireless charging support. The company has increased the fast charging capacity with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, as the last year launched Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra offered 45W fast charging. The smartphone easily lasts for 24 hours on a single charge. Even with heavy workloads—gaming, video streaming, camera use, and multitasking—the battery holds up impressively, rarely leaving you scrambling for a charger before bedtime.

The lasting battery life of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra can be attributed to Samsung’s optimisation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset and the software contributions of One UI 8.1 which makes sure that the background processes don’t drain power unnecessarily. Also, the adaptive refresh rate of the smartphone helps conserve energy when the display doesn’t need to run at 120Hz. The smartphone changes up to 70% in just half an hour because of the 60W fast charging support. Reverse wireless charging is also supported, letting you power accessories like earbuds or smartwatches directly from the phone.

Same as its predecessor, the Galaxy S26 Ultra also comes with a Battery protection feature which is designed to adjust the charging behaviour to extend the battery life. The mode comes with three options — Basic (when your battery is charged 100%, charging will stop until the battery level drops to 95% and then the charging will start again), Adaptive (Stop charging at 80% while you are asleep and switch to Basic before you wake up. Sleep time is estimated based on your phone usage patterns) and Maximum (your battery will stop charging when it reaches 80%).

The smartphone also comes with a power saving mode which enables users to toggle multiple settings in order to increase the battery life. We observed over 30 hours of battery life in our testing, and depending on usage patterns, it's capable of even more. We can surely say that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra delivers a consistent and dependable performance in the battery department.
