TalkTalk beats BT and Sky with fibre broadband deal and one major selling point

TalkTalk has reduced its fibre broadband plans to beat major rivals, including BT and Sky. The provider has just reduced its prices from £25 to £24 per month for Full Fibre 150. This provides speeds up to 150Mbps, ideal for streaming, gaming and browsing the web simultaneously. While this may not seem like a huge discount, it's cheaper than both BT and Sky's comparable plans.

That's because BT charges £25.99 for its slower 36Mbps broadband, while Sky's 100Mbps plan costs £26. One major difference between the brands is that TalkTalk's Full Fibre 150 comes on an 18-month contract, shorter than the 24-month commitment required by BT and Sky.

This means customers are tied into a contract for less time, offering the flexibility to shop around for a better deal at the end of the minimum term. TalkTalk also offers much faster internet speeds for those who need it, including Full Fibre 500 for £30, and Full Fibre 900 for £36.

However, these options come on a longer 24-month contract. It's also worth noting that speeds can vary by location, so customers are advised to enter their address details into TalkTalk's availability checker here.

A caveat to TalkTalk's deals is that the prices will increase each April, when customers will see their bills rise by £4 per month. The same applies to BT's broadband contracts, while Sky customers will see a percentage-based increase that's yet to be confirmed.

Last year, Sky's broadband prices rose by an average of 6.2%, a smaller increase for many customers compared to the £4 rise soon to be applied by TalkTalk and BT. TalkTalk has racked up thousands of positive reviews on Trustpilot, with some praising its 'stress-free' set-up and quality of customer service. One satisfied shopper said: "Getting an actual human being on the phone straight away is unheard of these days, so thank you, TalkTalk."

Another said: "Very happy with the service when installing the new Full Fibre. The whole process was stress-free and done in the most professional way possible. I've been a TalkTalk customer for years now and am very happy with them."

This customer experienced an issue with their service, but was happy with the outcome, saying: "Made a complaint about my internet coverage. Took a few emails to get it sorted, but it was resolved satisfactorily."

Nevertheless, this five-star review says: "I have been with TalkTalk for many years and will be for many years to come. I've had no complaints whatsoever, they have been very sufficient and prompt in every repair and query I've had."
