WhatsApp introduces a new feature that automatically deletes secret messages after they're read. Learn how to use them
A new privacy feature is being developed for WhatsApp. This feature will keep users' private messages secret and undetectable. This feature will be an extended version of WhatsApp's existing disappearing messages feature.
WhatsApp constantly rolls out new features. The world's most widely used instant messaging platform is about to add another new feature.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, this feature has been spotted in beta. Secret or highly personal messages will disappear 15 minutes after they're read.
However, WhatsApp users already have features like View Once, in which photos, videos, or audio files sent by the receiver are automatically deleted after viewing them once. This new privacy feature in WhatsApp will bring a new level of secrecy for users. The After Reading feature will set a timer, which will disappear within 15 minutes of the receiver viewing the message, so that private messages cannot be accessed by anyone else.
According to WABetaInfo, the After Reading feature won't be based on the time the message was received, meaning it won't be deleted 15 minutes after the message was received. Instead, it will automatically disappear from the chat window 15 minutes after the message is read by the receiver. However, this feature may also include a timer, allowing users to customize the message's disappearance time.
