WhatsApp To Allow Verified Instagram Profile Linking Soon

WhatsApp is gearing up to roll out a brand-new feature that enables users to attach verified Instagram profile links to their accounts.
The feature was initially spotted in the iOS beta version 25.22.10.72, released via Apple’s TestFlight programme. It follows a similar update observed earlier on the Android beta version 2.25.22.27, signalling Meta’s push for stronger cross-platform integration.
How the Verification Process Works
With the upcoming update, users will be able to verify their Instagram profile links directly through Meta’s Accounts Centre. Once the process is complete, a distinct label will be displayed alongside the linked Instagram profile — a visual confirmation that the account truly belongs to the WhatsApp user.
This approach is designed to enhance profile authenticity, combat impersonation attempts, and help people build trust in their online connections.
Verified vs Unverified Links
When a profile link is verified, the system will apply a clear visual badge. This “trust signal” assures others that the Instagram account has been legitimately linked and authorised by the user.
For unverified links, no such label will be shown — leaving it to recipients to decide whether the link is reliable.
Optional Linking for More Control
WhatsApp won’t require users to link their accounts to Meta’s Accounts Centre. Those who prefer not to connect can still share Instagram links without restrictions, but these will remain unverified.
For individuals prioritising digital credibility and identity protection, verification offers an extra safeguard against impersonation and misinformation.
