Wolfenstein 3 details revealed as first casting begins

Newspoint

MachineGames revealed that it wasn’t finished with the Wolfenstein series late last year, and we’ve just gotten our first glimpse as to what the next installment might entail.

As reported by MP1st, a casting call has been found that seems to relate to the next chapter in B.J Blazkowicz’s story with motion capture filming expected to start as early as April 2026.

According to the report, MachineGames is looking for an actor to play the role of Sofiya, who’s described as a Ukrainian orphan between the ages of 8 and 11. It’s thought that this character will form a connection with B.J. during the story of Wolfenstein 3, adopting similar story beats to The Last of Us and God of War with the Nazi-slaying protagonist taking her into his care.

“While initially suspicious and traumatized by war, she blooms under the care of the resistance as a strong-willed survivor,” her description reads.

The resistance was a strong plot driver in Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus with B.J. and his crew working to take down the Nazi regime after they took over the world in an alternate 1960’s timeline where Germany won World War 2.

MP1st notes that although principal filming is expected to take place in April 2026, the actor fulfilling the role will be expected to return later in the year and again in 2027. This suggests that the game is still a while away yet, so don’t go expecting trailers for Wolfenstein 3 at the next Xbox Showcase just yet.

MachineGames last shipped a game in 2024 with it working on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The last Wolfenstein game we saw before that was in 2019 with Youngblood, although this co-op outing with B.J.’s two daughters serving as its protagonists wasn’t received particularly well critically.

Next year will mark a decade since we last played as B.J. Blazkowicz in The New Colossus.

Meanwhile, Amazon is also currently working on a TV adaptation of Wolfenstein for its Prime Video service, furthering its relationship with Bethesda after the immense success of Fallout.

It’s expected that Bethesda will attempt to time the release of the new game alongside the TV show to maximise audience reach, although we don’t know exactly when that may be on both fronts.

With Indiana Jones launching in December 2024, MachineGames has likely had a full year of the team being all-steam ahead on Wolfenstein 3. With any luck, we might be going toe-to-toe with the Nazi regime once more as early as the second half of 2027, if not early 2028.
