YouTube Music Tests AI Tool For Tailored Radio Station Creation
YouTube Music is on the brink of introducing a new AI-driven feature that could revolutionize how users create custom radio stations through text prompts .
This innovative functionality, initially discovered by Reddit user kater_pro, is currently in a limited experimental phase accessible to a select group of users. When the feature becomes widely available, users will see a new card on their Home feed titled “Ask for music any way you like.”
The new purple card resembles the existing “Create a radio: Your music timer” card. Clicking it brings up a fullscreen interface with a text field labeled ‘Ask for Music’ and some example prompts. Users can type in their desired music type, prompting the system to generate a new radio station , which appears in the familiar playlist interface showing upcoming songs.
A disclaimer notes that these AI-generated suggestions are experimental and may not always be accurate. For instance, when the Reddit user requested ‘Queer Hip Hop Beats,’ YouTube Music generated a description reading, ‘Rhymes and flows from the heart, a celebration of queer pride in hip hop’s art.’
