2 Dead, 200+ FIRs, 433 Arrested, Over 1100 Detained In Post-Poll Violence In West Bengal
West Bengal DGP Siddh Nath Gupta clarified that security for Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee has not been withdrawn, but only additional deployment beyond Z+ protocol has been reduced as per the “Yellow Book” guidelines. The move came after the recent Assembly election results. Addressing post-poll violence, he said over 200 FIRs have been registered, 433 arrests made, and more than 1,100 people detained preventively. Incidents were earlier reported from areas like Asansol, Cooch Behar, and Baruipur, with two deaths in Nanoor and New Town. He added that no fresh violence has been reported today and announced joint police-CAPF control rooms to strengthen law and order.
