‘I Am Warning Govt’: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Says Delimitation Could Become ‘Permanent Wound’
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the Centre’s proposed delimitation Bills in the Lok Sabha, saying they could weaken the Opposition and affect the federal balance. During the debate on women’s reservation and related legislation, he alleged the government was pushing the Bills using its majority while many Opposition leaders were engaged in state elections. Owaisi warned that linking seat allocation strictly to population would reduce the political weight of southern states and strengthen northern dominance. He also flagged concerns over possible gerrymandering and its impact on minority representation. Emphasising India’s diversity, he called for safeguards to ensure fair and balanced representation across all states.
