India Not A 'Broker' Like Pak: Jaishankar Tells Leaders At All-Party Meet Amid Iran Mediation Buzz

At an all-party meeting on the West Asia crisis, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar asserted that India does not act as a “broker,” distancing the country from mediation efforts in the Iran conflict. He reportedly remarked that Pakistan’s role as an intermediary was not new and linked to its past engagement with the US. The Centre briefed opposition leaders on the evolving situation and its potential impact on India, including energy supplies. Opposition parties raised concerns over fuel availability, India’s diplomatic stance, and Pakistan’s involvement. The government assured adequate domestic production and reserves of LPG, CNG, and crude oil, and said it is closely monitoring the situation while prioritising national interests.
