Mathura: Boat Carrying Devotees Capsizes In Yamuna; 10 Bodies Recovered, Rescue Ops On
At least 10 people lost their lives after a boat carrying devotees capsized in the Yamuna River near Kesi Ghat in Mathura. According to officials, the accident occurred when the boat, carrying around 25–30 passengers, allegedly collided with a pontoon bridge and sank. Rescue operations involving police, fire services, local divers, and teams from the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force are underway to trace missing persons. Authorities confirmed that 13 people were rescued, while efforts continue to identify the exact number of passengers. PM Narendra Modi expressed grief over the tragedy, offering condolences to the victims’ families and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. CM Yogi Adityanath also termed the incident deeply distressing and assured all possible assistance to those affected.
