Nepal Objects To India-China Plan To Conduct Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Via Lipulekh

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it had taken note of reports on the pilgrimage route and reaffirmed its position under the 1816 Sugauli Treaty that Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh, and Kalapani lie east of the Mahakali River and are part of Nepal. It said Kathmandu has consistently communicated its concerns through diplomatic channels regarding any activities in the disputed area, including the Yatra route. The government also urged India to refrain from infrastructure, trade, or tourism activities in the region and confirmed that China has been formally informed of Nepal’s claim, while reiterating its commitment to resolving the boundary dispute through peaceful dialogue.
