'Pak Remains In Denial': India Hits Out Over Op Searchlight Genocide, Backs Dhaka's Justice Call

India has expressed strong support for Bangladesh’s call for justice over the 1971 “Operation Searchlight” atrocities, criticizing Pakistan for continuing to deny its role in the genocide. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the systematic killing of millions of innocent Bangladeshis, widespread sexual violence against women, and the mass exodus of refugees to India. Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman observed March 25 as Genocide Day, paying homage to the martyrs and calling the night one of the most brutal in the country’s history. He emphasized that the massacre was premeditated and urged citizens to honour those who sacrificed their lives. India’s statement reinforces its solidarity with Bangladesh and the enduring importance of the 1971 Liberation War in the nation’s identity.
