PM Modi Assures No Seat Cut For Southern States, Pushes Women’s Quota Bill
PM Narendra Modi said the government plans to implement the women’s reservation law from the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, urging women to pressure opposition parties to pass related bills unopposed. Addressing a rally in Kerala, he rejected claims that southern states would lose seats due to delimitation, calling them “lies,” and assured that no seats would be reduced in states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Modi said the Centre plans to increase Lok Sabha seats to around 816, with additional constituencies reserved for women. He added that the move aims to end a 40-year delay in ensuring political representation for women and called for broad political support to implement the reform.
