Qatar Assures Reliable Energy Supply To India Amid West Asia Crisis After Hardeep Puri's Doha Visit

Qatar's Energy Minister Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi reaffirmed during talks with Indian Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in Doha that Qatar will continue to be a reliable energy supplier to India. The discussions focused on maintaining stability in global energy markets amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, with both sides stressing the importance of uninterrupted freedom of navigation and smooth global trade to safeguard supply chains. They welcomed the recently announced two-week ceasefire on April 8 and called for an early return to normal energy flows. According to India’s Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Narendra Modi conveyed a message of solidarity through Puri, who also reviewed the full scope of bilateral relations including energy, trade, and investment. Qatar reiterated its commitment to strengthen long-term energy cooperation with India as both countries highlighted the need for regional stability, given India’s heavy reliance on West Asia for LNG and LPG imports.
