‘True Friendship’: Iran Envoy Lauds India Ties, Clarifies Deleted Thank You Posts

Iran’s ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali said Iran remains grateful for the support and aid received from across India during the ongoing conflict, calling India a “true friend in hard times.” Speaking to TOI, he clarified that deleted social media posts thanking India were removed to issue a broader, more inclusive message acknowledging contributions from all sections of society. Fathali also commended New Delhi’s “balanced” and “neutral” approach, while calling on countries to stand against violations of international law and attacks on civilians. Addressing concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, he noted that it lies within the territorial waters of Iran and Oman, adding that Tehran has taken steps to ensure safe passage for vessels from friendly nations, including India, despite regional tensions and rising insurance costs affecting shipping.
