“Violation Of Article 21”: Owaisi Slams UCC, Says It Interferes With Religious Freedom
In a strong statement on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi accused the government of undermining constitutional protections and interfering with religious practices. Speaking in Ahmedabad, he argued that several provisions in the proposed law reflect Hindu personal laws and are being imposed on Muslims. Owaisi highlighted concerns over rules related to marriage, divorce, alimony, and live-in relationships, calling them incompatible with Islamic principles. He also questioned the intent behind the UCC, saying it threatens the diversity of personal laws in India and raises serious concerns about individual rights and religious autonomy.
