‘Will Maintain Exports Again’: Piyush Goyal Highlights India’s ‘Stable’ Trade Amid West Asia War

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said India’s trade performance has remained steady despite global uncertainties triggered by the West Asia conflict. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, he noted that goods exports did not decline in February, while the services sector continued to register strong growth. He added that although there was a slight slowdown in early March, exports picked up in the second week, with expectations of stable performance by month-end. Highlighting challenges such as higher freight costs and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, Goyal emphasized India’s resilience. He also pointed to strengthening global trade ties and upcoming Free Trade Agreements, saying they would create new opportunities for farmers, small businesses and entrepreneurs.
