‘Won’t Reduce South’s Share’: Amit Shah Clarifies On Delimitation, Calls Oppn Claims ‘Misleading’
Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke in the Lok Sabha during the debate on women’s reservation and delimitation, rejecting Opposition claims that southern states would lose representation. He said such concerns were based on a misleading narrative and clarified that the proposed Constitution Amendment Bill and related laws would not affect the South’s share. Shah added that the Modi government has decided to carry out a caste census and that the ongoing process follows existing legal provisions. He also said no changes have been made to the Delimitation Commission’s structure. Taking a jibe at the Opposition, Shah remarked that the issue could be explained in very simple terms.
