Mosquito Virus in China: After the coronavirus pandemic, the world learned how dangerous it can be to take any infectious disease lightly. Now, another crisis has struck in China , the Chikungunya virus. Recently, more than 10,000 cases of this disease have been reported in Guangdong province of southern China. Such a big outbreak is new for China and this is the reason why the government there has again adopted a policy like Zero-COVID.

War against mosquitoes

Chikungunya is a disease spread by mosquitoes. To prevent this, steps like spraying insecticide and quarantine policy are being taken in China. Insecticides are being sprayed several times a day in the infected areas . The government is instructing patients to report immediately and stay in quarantine .

Why did the outbreak increase?

Chinese health experts say that this year's hotter weather and a new strain of the virus have accelerated the outbreak . Like diseases such as malaria and dengue , chikungunya is also spreading rapidly due to global warming .

What is the global status

It is not limited to China only. According to the World Health Organization ( WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization , by August 2025, around 2.7 lakh people have been affected by this disease in the world and more than 110 deaths have occurred. Its effect has also been seen in America, Europe and Asia. Therefore, the CDC ( Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ) has warned travelers to take precautions while traveling to China and other affected countries.

Where did Chikungunya first appear?

This virus was first identified in Tanzania in 1952. At that time its symptoms were like this.

  • High fever
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Fatigue and nausea
  • Skin rash

There is a vaccine in America to prevent this

There is no specific antiviral treatment for chikungunya . Doctors mainly focus on reducing the symptoms. However, a vaccine is available in the US.

For your information, let us tell you that its huge outbreak in China is also a warning of climate change. Therefore, this disease can be controlled only through timely prevention, awareness and cooperation.
