A startling incident has emerged from Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh, where a woman walked barefoot over hot coals to demonstrate her innocence. She claims that her mother-in-law harbors suspicions about her character. To dispel these doubts, she undertook this 'trial by fire' in the Sausar block.

According to the woman, her mother-in-law accused her of practicing witchcraft and manipulating her son. To refute these allegations, she walked on the embers during the Muharram festival at a shrine in the village of Ramkona. A video of this event has since gone viral on social media.

In the footage, a religious leader discusses the accusations made against the woman by her relatives and encourages her to walk on the coals to prove her innocence. The woman complied and walked on the coals twice. Speaking to the media, she stated that her in-laws have been accusing her of controlling her husband, which she denies. She visited the shrine to provide evidence of her innocence, clarifying that she acted of her own volition and was not coerced by the religious leader.

The religious leader has responded, stating that the woman's family has been tormenting her for days under the pretext of feeding her husband. He emphasized that the actions taken were with the woman's consent. Meanwhile, the woman's husband mentioned that there was confusion in their family regarding her actions, but his mother now believes that she is innocent.

Various organizations have reacted to this incident, calling for action against the religious leader. The Human Rights Commission has also taken notice, requesting a response from the police within three weeks. Following the report of the incident, the police have registered a case.
