AI Impact on Workforce: While companies aren't saying this openly, they are ready to replace their employees with AI if the opportunity arises. In one study, nine out of ten companies said they were ready to replace employees with AI to increase productivity and reduce costs. It's worth noting that many companies, including Amazon, have begun doing this, and in the past few months, a significant number of people have lost their jobs due to AI .
Companies want to invest in AI instead of employees.
In this study conducted in the US, nearly 90 percent of companies said they were happy to invest more money in AI if the loss of employees allowed them to do more work. A similar number of companies also said that AI can now perform more tasks and, given this, they are willing to reduce their workforce. Companies also know that hiring is not happening now, and they will not face opposition to such decisions. Many senior business leaders who participated in the study said that investing in AI is now more important than employee satisfaction.
Amazon is an example of this.
The trend observed in the study can be illustrated by the example of Amazon. The company has laid off 16,000 people as part of a restructuring plan. The company says this decision was taken to simplify decision-making and reduce team size. Now, Amazon is investing heavily in AI and anticipates significant profits from it. With the help of AI, the company aims to increase its annual revenue to ₹55 lakh crore.
