Prior to this, there is a golden opportunity—valid until March 31, 2026—to obtain an instant PAN card using only your Aadhaar card. This is because, once the new rules come into effect on April 1, 2026, additional documents—such as a birth certificate—will be required. This entire process is completely online, free of cost, and based on e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer), allowing it to be completed within just a few minutes.

The Process for Obtaining an Instant PAN Card Using Aadhaar

Visit the Website: Go to the official e-filing website of the Income Tax Department (https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/).

Select 'Instant e-PAN': On the homepage, click on "Instant e-PAN" located within the "Quick Links" section.

Get New PAN: Select the "Get New PAN" option.

Aadhaar Details: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, accept the terms and conditions, and click "Continue."

OTP Verification: Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) received on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.

Verify Details: Cross-check the details displayed against the information stored in your Aadhaar record, and then submit.

Download: Upon successful application, you will receive an acknowledgment number; shortly thereafter, you can return to this portal to download your 'e-PAN'.
