Apple WWDC 2026 announced for June 8: Finally a smarter Siri on the block?
Apple has announced that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will take place online from June 8-12, with a special in-person event at Apple Park on June 8. This year’s conference carries extra significance, as Apple has officially confirmed that Siri is now powered by Gemini, the company’s latest AI engine, following the announcement made alongside Google.

WWDC 2026 promises a week packed with software updates, AI innovations, and developer tools across Apple’s platforms. The online experience will include over 100 video sessions, interactive group labs, and one-on-one appointments with Apple engineers and designers, giving developers a direct line to explore new frameworks, features, and AI capabilities integrated into Apple’s ecosystem.
The conference kicks off with the Keynote and Platforms State of the Union on Monday, June 8. Apple is streaming the event on the Apple Developer app, website, YouTube, and on the Apple Developer bilibili channel in China. The in-person component at Apple Park will allow developers and students to attend labs, meet engineers and designers, and experience the latest tools firsthand, though space will be limited.
“WWDC is one of the most exciting times for us at Apple because it’s a chance for our incredible global developer community to come together for an electrifying week that celebrates technology, innovation, and collaboration,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations.
Student developers will also be highlighted through the Swift Student Challenge, with winners notified on March 26. The 50 Distinguished Winners will be invited to Cupertino for a three-day immersive experience, including participation in the Apple Park event.
With Siri now officially running on Gemini, WWDC 2026 marks a turning point for AI on Apple devices. Developers can expect deep dives into how this integration will reshape voice assistance, app interactions, and the broader AI ecosystem across iOS, macOS, and beyond.
Apple will continue to release updates leading up to the conference via the Apple Developer app, website, and social channels including LinkedIn, WeChat, and bilibili for China-based developers.
This year, WWDC isn’t just a showcase of software it’s a signal of how Apple plans to elevate AI across its entire ecosystem, with Siri on Gemini as the centerpiece for next-generation user experiences.
