Bobby Deol, Anurag Kashyap’s Bandar

On May 6, the makers unveiled Bandar’s newly released poster on Instagram. The visual captures Bobby Deol exuding rockstar energy against a glitzy backdrop. He can be seen wearing a sequinned co-ord set, sparkling like disco lights. The actor sports a rugged look, holding a guitar and standing in front of a mic, flashing a subtle smile. As per the post, Bandar’s teaser will be out on April 7.

Bobby Deol was initially hesitant to be a part of Bandar, as per a report by The Indian Express. As per a source close to the development, the actor was skeptical about playing the protagonist’s role of a former television star facing abuse allegations from his ex-girlfriend. But it was Bobby’s late father, legendary actor Dharmendra, who encouraged him to sign for the movie.

Dharmendra influenced Bobby Deol’s Bandar

Dharmendra recalled the times, back in the 1960s, when he agreed to portray non-mainstream roles as a rising superstar. His decision was also met with skepticism. The source claimed that Dharmendra had advised Bobby Deol not to be shy and ‘go take a chance’. The actor followed his father’s advice and decided to be a part of Bandar. As for Dharmendra, the experienced cinema icon’s unconventional movies include Rishikesh Mukherjee’s Anupama (1966) and Satyakam (1969), along with Basu Chatterjee’s 1978 romantic comedy Dillagi.
