BB27 White Locust twist evicts Rachel Reilly, fans outraged
Some of the most dedicated Big Brother fans were left in shock after a controversial twist on Season 27 led to the sudden elimination of three-time contestant Rachel Reilly. Social media erupted as viewers reacted to the unexpected game turn, with fans criticizing CBS and the show's producers. It did not take long for Big Brother Season 27 fans to launch hashtags like #boycottbb27, #JusticeForRachel, and #Rachel4AFP. The episode aired Tuesday night, following host Julie Chen Moonves' tease during the previous eviction episode.
After the eviction of Mickey Lee, the remaining houseguests were told that they would all have to move to the Jury House, where the final set of contestants will decide who the winner of Big Brother would be.
As part of the episode, the houseguests were escorted to the "White Locust," a neighboring resort and spa, presented as a celebratory reward for reaching the jury phase. Fans familiar with Big Brother know that any prize is often a setup for unexpected twists.
The twist quickly revealed itself when Master Mind announced the "Month of Mayhem," signaling that one houseguest would face immediate elimination despite the celebratory setting. "You may have checked into the White Locust, but one of you won't be checking out," Master Mind warned.
For this challenge, Big Brother alum Tyler Crispen entered the White Locust which guaranteed safety to one houseguest. Ava Pearl won the first challenge and secured her spot for the night.
The elimination challenge involved completing a timed puzzle. Each houseguest who succeeded reduced the next contestant's time by a minute, adding pressure as the challenge progressed.
Ava chose Vince to go first, followed by Lauren, Morgan, and ultimately Rachel. However, Rachel only had 3 minutes and 30 seconds to finish the task. She admitted in her confessional, "This is do or die for me, I have to survive or this is the end of my game."
Reflecting on her motivation, Rachel added, "I'm thinking about Brendan and my two beautiful children at home. I'm here for them. This is so important, and this game could be what determines if my Big Brother life ends tonight. I always pull through when my back is up against the wall. I know there’s still hope. If I just focus, I really think I could do this."
Despite all her efforts, Rachel ran out of time and failed to complete the maze. This ended her journey on Big Brother Season 27 as the houseguests reacted in shock as Master Mind confirmed her elimination.
"I don't win the competition and I'm out of the game," Rachel said tearfully in confessional. "I'm really disappointed in myself. Big Brother has meant so much to me. I met my husband on the show. I have two beautiful kids because of it. I'm a winner of the game. I am a legend. I kind of feel like I let everyone down."
Earlier in the episode, Rachel had expressed optimism about her return. "I'm really excited that I've made it to the Big Brother jury. I've been here twice before, and now it’s time for me to pull out that Rachel Reilly spirit and make it to the end. These kids have no idea what's about to happen in these next few evictions."
Before leaving, Rachel gave a warning to the remaining contestants: "Don't think I'm going to make your jury table round easy," she said. "You're going to have to work to win this game. You are going to have to fight and get blood on your hands because I did, and I've done it three times now. So don't think that you can show up in those final two chairs and I'm going to let you guys get off easy. Because if you want to be a legend like me, then you have to work for it and earn it."

While the show's episode aired, the backlash just intensified. It mostly steamed from the fact that Rachel was eliminated due to a twist rather than the standard eviction process. Big Brother legend Janelle Pierzina voiced her frustration on social media, stating, "Well those ratings better grab a life vest. They are gonna need it."
