A major and important decision regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) was taken in the first meeting chaired by the newly appointed chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, Dr. Prashant Kumar. The meeting revealed that a thorough study of the examination calendars of other commissions and recruitment agencies will be conducted before finalizing the exam dates. Only after this will a new schedule be decided, so that the exams do not clash and can be conducted transparently and smoothly. This decision clearly indicates that the TET exam scheduled for January 29 and 30, 2026, will also be postponed.

It was also decided in the meeting that an internal vigilance system would be established to bring transparency to the commission's functioning. Under this system, a vigilance officer will soon be appointed in the commission to effectively monitor the work related to examinations and recruitment.
Detailed Calendar to be Released Soon
The commission has assured that a detailed examination calendar will be released soon to conduct recruitment examinations in a timely, fair, and transparent manner. In this regard, the Deputy Secretary and Public Relations Officer of the commission, Sanjay Kumar Singh, has issued a press release providing information about the decisions taken in the meeting.
What is the UP TET Exam?
The UP TET (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) is a mandatory examination for becoming a teacher in schools (classes 1 to 8) in Uttar Pradesh, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). It consists of two papers (for primary and upper primary levels) and tests the candidates' teaching aptitude, after passing which you can apply for teacher recruitment.
