CBSE AI In School: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is preparing to make major changes to its syllabus and other aspects. The board has already implemented several significant changes under the New Education Policy. At the board's recent governing body meeting, several important decisions were taken to improve the quality of education and address future needs. Major steps are also being taken regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI). Major changes are being planned, especially for grades 9 and 10.
AI and Computing Essential
The CBSE is now planning to include computing and AI as compulsory subjects in the syllabus for grades 9 and 10. It has also been announced that the board will introduce AI into children's classrooms as early as grade 3. These changes are expected to begin next year, 2026-27. It will be integrated into various subjects. The level will then be increased when students reach grade 6.
Emphasis on Skills
From PM Modi to numerous tech giants, it has been repeatedly reiterated that skills will be the most powerful force in the future. Consequently, the CBSE will introduce "Semiconductor Technology" as a skill subject for students in grades 8 to 12. A special learning module will be developed for this purpose. It has been reported that the CBSE will develop its skill subjects under the international standard PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment).
Grading System for Schools
Among the significant changes, plans are underway to introduce a special grading system for Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), and Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS). Grading will be based on factors other than academics. There is also talk of promoting regional languages. The board has already implemented a two-board exam system in grade 10. Similar regulations will be implemented for other schools, and stricter measures will be taken to prevent cheating.
