Karkala: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Swaroop T.K. has issued strict instructions to Nirmithi Kendra to take full responsibility for cleanliness and security at the Parashurama Theme Park located at Bailuru Umikal Kunja, which is currently under controversy and investigation.

The directions follow a report published on January 5 regarding an alleged theft at the theme park on June 4. Taking serious note of the report, the Deputy Commissioner issued an official memorandum highlighting lapses in the maintenance of the park and calling for immediate corrective measures.

The Deputy Commissioner clarified that as the theme park work has not yet been completed or formally handed over, the responsibility of safeguarding valuable electronic equipment and materials at the site rests entirely with the implementing agency, Nirmithi Kendra.

Round-the-clock security:
CCTV cameras must be installed across the park premises, and security personnel should be deployed 24 hours a day.

Prevention of trespassing:
As the matter is under investigation, public entry into the park is restricted except for authorised persons. Any unauthorised entry will invite registration of an FIR under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023.

Cleanliness measures:

Overgrown bushes in the premises must be cleared immediately and the area cleaned. The administration has stated that voluntary public cleaning is not appropriate and that the work should be carried out only by the department concerned.

GPS photo compliance report:
A compliance report on the actions taken must be submitted by January 10. In addition, the Project Director of Nirmithi Kendra has been directed to visit the site every week and submit a report with GPS-tagged photographs.

Proposal for cultural programmes

Local legislators had requested permission to organise cultural programmes at the park for one month starting January 14. However, the district administration stated that ensuring the safety of the park is the top priority, as the matter is under investigation by the CID and is also pending before the High Court.
