Film Background and Narrative Scope

Dhurandhar, which translates to Stalwart, is a 2025 Hindi-language spy action thriller written, co-produced, and helmed by Aditya Dhar. The project is backed by Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios alongside Aditya and Lokesh Dhar’s B62 Studios. The ensemble cast features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, with several notable actors in supporting roles.

Serving as the first chapter in a planned two-part franchise, the storyline chronicles a decade-long covert intelligence mission centered on an undercover operative embedded within Karachi’s criminal and political networks. While the makers maintain that the film is fictional, the narrative draws inspiration from real geopolitical incidents, including the IC-814 hijacking of 1999, the 2001 Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, and Operation Lyari.
