FASTag: Highway Travel to Become More Expensive from April 1, Here Is the Cost of the FASTag Annual Pass..
For travelers across the country using National Highways, the fee for the FASTag Annual Pass is set to increase. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to raise the fee for the FASTag Annual Pass from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075 for the financial year 2026-27. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the new fee will come into effect on April 1, 2026. This change has been implemented in accordance with the rules stipulated under the National Highways Fee (Determination and Collection) Rules, 2008.
Applicability to Vehicles
The new fee will apply to non-commercial—that is, private—vehicles equipped with a valid FASTag. This facility is available at approximately 1,150 toll plazas across the country, situated along the National Highway and National Expressway networks. According to the Ministry, the usage of the FASTag Annual Pass is witnessing rapid growth among private vehicle owners. Currently, more than 5.6 million people across the country are utilizing this facility.
One-Time Payment for the Entire Year
Opting for the FASTag Annual Pass eliminates the need for vehicle owners to frequently recharge their accounts. Upon making a one-time payment, the pass remains valid for a period of one year or until the vehicle has crossed a toll plaza 200 times, whichever occurs first. This facility is available to all non-commercial vehicles, provided the vehicle is fitted with a valid FASTag.
Activation Process
Activating this pass is also quite simple. Vehicle owners can make the one-time fee payment via the 'Rajmarg Yatra' app or through the official website of the National Highways Authority of India. The pass becomes active on the vehicle's existing FASTag within approximately two hours of the payment being processed.
Scheme Launched in 2025
The FASTag Annual Pass scheme was launched on August 15, 2025. According to the Ministry, the scheme has received a positive response from vehicle owners since its inception. It offers travelers on National Highways a more convenient and cost-effective option for their journeys.
