Offering significant relief to the common man and the middle class, the Central Government has clarified that there is absolutely no need to panic.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has provided assurances that the country possesses adequate fuel reserves and has urged the public not to place any credence in the rumors currently circulating regarding the supply chain. Keeping the needs of the general public in mind, the government has already taken every necessary precautionary measure.

The government has issued clear directives stating that motorists need not crowd petrol pumps, nor is there any requirement to book gas cylinders in advance.

All refineries across the country are operating at their full capacity, and our reserves of crude oil are fully stocked. The Ministry has urged people to exercise restraint and to purchase only what is required for their immediate needs. Although the clouds of war may be looming on the international horizon, India's energy security remains robust, and the government ensures that no shortages of any kind will be allowed to occur domestically.

To further facilitate the general public, the government has made it even easier to procure small, 5-kilogram gas cylinders.

Now, any individual can visit their nearest gas agency and purchase one of these cylinders simply by presenting a valid identity card (ID proof); no proof of address is required for this transaction. According to official statistics, approximately 5.7 million (57 lakh) of these small cylinders have been sold since the 23rd of last month. This initiative is proving to be immensely helpful for individuals living in rented accommodations or those who do not possess permanent residential documentation.

The impact of the 'Digital India' initiative is also clearly evident in the realm of gas cylinder bookings. Currently, the volume of online gas bookings has reached an impressive 95 percent—a new record. You might be surprised to learn that, in a single day yesterday alone, 5.1 million (51 lakh) domestic LPG cylinders were successfully home-delivered across the country. This stands as a testament to the robustness and efficiency of the government's supply and delivery infrastructure.

In parallel, the government is also encouraging people to adopt alternatives such as PNG (Piped Natural Gas), induction stoves, and electric cooktops to reduce dependence on traditional fuels.

Significant momentum has also been observed in the adoption of Piped Natural Gas (PNG). Since last month, gas supply has commenced in over 350,000 new households, and approximately 380,000 people have registered for new connections. On the other hand, the Ministry of Shipping is keeping a close watch on maritime trade routes.

Despite war-like situations, measures are being taken to ensure that there are no disruptions to the movement of Indian vessels or the safety of our seafarers.

In a piece of good news, an LPG vessel named 'Green Sanvi' safely transited the Strait of Hormuz yesterday. The vessel is carrying a cargo of 46,650 metric tonnes of gas and has 25 Indian seafarers on board. Currently, 17 Indian vessels are present in the Western Persian Gulf region, with 460 Indian seafarers deployed on duty.

The government is continuously monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of all these personnel, thereby guaranteeing an uninterrupted supply of fuel to the country.

The situation is also improving in the aviation sector. Since February 28, approximately 675,000 passengers have safely returned to India from the affected region. Reports had emerged regarding five Indians sustaining injuries in an attack in Abu Dhabi; of these, four have recovered and been discharged, while one is currently undergoing treatment.

Indian diplomatic missions abroad remain fully prepared to assist Indians stranded overseas and are coordinating closely with local authorities to ensure that our citizens receive the best possible medical care and security.

The government has made it clear that India occupies a very strong position in terms of energy security. Despite international pressures, the import of crude oil and the supply of gas are proceeding smoothly. At the diplomatic level as well, measures have been implemented to ensure that our supply chains remain unaffected by the ongoing conflict.

We simply appeal to citizens not to pay heed to rumors and to increase their use of alternative energy sources, thereby reducing pressure on the system and ensuring that the country's economy continues to move forward robustly.
